Morning session tickets that are good from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm are also available. to 10 pm night skiing session, and if you prefer skiing the whole day, it doesn't cost much more to get an extended ticket that allows for all-day admission. It is possible to buy a lift ticket for the 4:30 pm. As such, you can entertain the idea of doing some night skiing. In addition to being able to make snow, the Elk Mountain Ski Resort can illuminate much of its terrain. The resort averages about five feet of the natural stuff on a yearly basis and can cover most of its terrain with manmade snow when Mother Nature isn't cooperating. It was always easier for us to drive to a closer resort, but my family frequented Elk for the terrain and for the overall experience. I grew up in Delaware, a little over three hours from Elk. In fact, Elk frequently uses the phrase, “It’s like skiing Vermont without the drive.” With ~1000 ft of vertical you can get some solid turns in before hopping back on the chair. The mountain feels larger than most in the Poconos. Weve been named Best Overall Mountain in the Mid. I personally recommend Susquehanna and Slalom. Skip the crowds in the Poconos and journey North to Elk Mountain, located in the beautiful Endless Mountains. Most of the black trails at Elk feel closer to a black you would find in VT, or elsewhere in New England. Because of this, Elk Mountain Ski Resort is sometimes, well… forgotten. Each resort is *roughly* two hours from both cities. Camelback Mountain and Blue Mountain are two of the more popular hills due to their proximity to NYC and Philadelphia.
